How to Clean an iPhone Case
A quick clean every few weeks keeps your case looking new and stops grit from scratching your iPhone. Always take the phone out of the case before cleaning.
- Remove the case. Take the case off the phone (see how to remove an iPhone case) and unplug any accessories.
- Wash with mild soap. Mix a drop of dish soap in warm water. Scrub the case gently with a soft toothbrush or microfiber cloth, including the corners and button covers.
- Rinse and dry fully. Rinse with clean water and let the case dry completely, or pat it dry with a lint-free cloth. Never put a damp case back on your iPhone.
- Wipe the phone. Before refitting, wipe the back and sides of the iPhone with a dry microfiber cloth so no grit is trapped under the case.
How to clean a clear iPhone case
Wash with warm soapy water as above. For stubborn marks, rub gently with a paste of baking soda and water, then rinse. Clear TPU edges turn yellow over time from UV light and skin oils; cleaning removes dirt but will not fully reverse yellowing. Hybrid cases like the ESR Classic Hybrid have a hard polycarbonate back that resists yellowing much longer than all-soft clear cases.
How to clean a silicone iPhone case
Silicone attracts lint. Wipe it with a cloth dampened with mild soapy water, then rinse and let it air-dry. Do not soak cases with a microfiber lining, as the lining takes a long time to dry. Shop silicone iPhone cases.
How to clean a leather or FineWoven case
Do not soak these. Wipe with a soft cloth that is only slightly damp with water and a tiny amount of mild soap, then let it air-dry away from heat. For leather, a small amount of leather conditioner afterwards keeps it from drying out.
What not to use
Avoid bleach, acetone, household glass cleaner, abrasive powders and the dishwasher. They can cloud clear cases, damage coatings and weaken the magnets' adhesive in MagSafe cases.
